Paint Brush

When painting your house, choosing the right paint brush can make all the difference. It can help you apply more paint quicker. It can help you cut straight lines. Or it can be a nuisance and steal your time and increase your frustration.

Follow these tips to help you pick the right brush.

When picking a paint brush, it is generally worth the money and time saved, to get a high quality brush.
If you’re shopping at a paint store – they will often have brushes that are made by them, that are not brand name, but are high quality.
Its like shopping at walmart and buying walmart brand milk instead of a name brand, for example.
Get a brush that fits comfortably in your hand, when you hold it like a pencil. It should be weighted comfortably, and you can imagine working with it.
If you are painting trim, it is recommended to get a brush that is angled. Typically people prefer 2 and 1/2 ” to 3″ angled brushes for painting trim.
If you are painting lots of siding, get a non angled brush that is bigger!
Also, make sure that you get the right kind of brush for the paint that you are using.
Most brushes, for example, that work with Water based/Acrylic paints, will be ruined if you use Oil Based Paint!
Use a China Bristle brush for Oil Based Paint.
If you are painting a deck and you are going to brush it, you may want to select a siding and decking brush that is thicker and wider than other brushes(holding alot of paint) and they often have a place for you to screw an extension pole into too, so you don’t have to bend over as you brush the floor.
